Warehousing and transloading, explained
Warehousing is simply storage: your freight is unloaded, held safely, and released when you're ready for it. Transloading is the transfer of freight from one piece of equipment to another, most often from an ocean container onto a truck for the next leg.
For importers, the two often go together. A container comes off the vessel, is emptied at a warehouse near the port, and the empty goes back quickly. The freight is then stored, or sent straight out, based on what your customers need. Unloading close to the port gets the container returned sooner and gives you control over when and how the freight moves next.
